"We can't take any more" says local councillor as eight turbines planned for Offaly

Local Fianna Fail councillor Claire Murray Smale has said that Offaly "can't take any more" as eight new turbines have been planned for the faithful county.

It comes as a final public consultation is set to be hosted tonight (Thursday) in Rhode Parish Hall from 5pm until 8.30pm.

BnM is intending to build a 25 turbine project across the bogs of Derryhinch, Drumman and Derryarkin, with a blade tip height of 200 meters. The area include areas in county Offaly, Westmeath and Meath.

A solar section is also planned for Ballybeg, according to Cllr Murray Smale.

"To say I am dejected is putting it mildly. We can't take any more," she said.
