Groups within 10km of Offaly wind farm invited to apply for community benefit fund

BnM (formerly Bord na Móna) is seeking applications from local community organisations in the vicinity of Derrinlough Wind Farm in Offaly to apply for the Derrinlough Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund.

Eligible organisations based within 10km of Derrinlough Wind Farm can apply for financial support from the find, which last year distributed €118,000 in support to 47 community projects.

Last year's funding recipients included Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Eoin in Rath, St Rynagh's Hurling Club in Banagher, St Mary's Hall in Cloghan, Fivealley Development Group, and Eglish Drumcullen Development Committee.

BnM said the fund is designed to help community, voluntary and non-profit groups, clubs and societies, or organisations with charitable status, which aim to deliver community good in the vicinity of the wind farm.

This year's fund opened for applications on November 10, and the closing date to apply is Monday, January 19, at 5pm.

Applications for the Derrinlough Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund are to be assessed by a committee comprised of members of the local communities neighbouring the wind farm.
