Children’s flu vaccine clinics confirmed for Midlands region
HSE Dublin and Midlands will hold free walk‑in clinics offering the children’s nasal flu vaccine (LAIV) in Tullamore and Portlaoise over the Christmas period.
These pop‑up clinics are designed to make vaccination more accessible for families during the busy festive period.
The Tullamore clinic will take place in the Primary Care Centre, Church Street, on Tuesday, December 30, from 10am-4pm.
The Portlaoise Clinic will take place at the Mobile Vaccination Base ajacent to the health centre at St Fintan's Campus, on Monday, December 29, from 10am-4pm.
The LAIV (Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine) nasal spray is a quick, painless spray administered into each nostril, offering children aged 2–17 years effective protection against winter flu.
Dr Fionnuala Cooney, Regional Director of Public Health for HSE Dublin and Midlands said: “Flu can be serious for children and those around them. These walk‑in clinics provide a convenient opportunity for parents to protect their children and help reduce the spread of flu in our communities.”
