Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, has officially turned the sod on a new 327 sq m community centre in Moneygall.
The €2 million project, led by Moneygall Development Association and built by Build More JV, is funded by over €1.8 million from the Community Centre Investment Fund, with match funding from Offaly County Council.
The centre will provide a flexible multipurpose space with a commercial kitchen, dressing rooms, external toilets, car parking and e-car charging points, supporting social, cultural, sporting and community activities.
Since 2022, the CCIF has invested over €110 million nationwide, including €3.7 million for 47 projects in Offaly.
Minister Calleary and local representatives praised the strong community effort behind the project, describing it as a transformative development that will strengthen Moneygall’s social and community life for generations to come.
