Clonmacnoise Visitor Centre honoured at CIÉ Tours Annual Awards of Excellence

For the second year in a row, Clonmacnoise Visitor Centre was the recipient of a merit award in the visitor experience category at the CIÉ Tours Annual Awards of Excellence.

The annual awards celebrate Irish hoteliers and tourist experience operators singled out by the 30,000 visitors who came to Ireland with CIÉ Tours in 2025.

The on-site Interpretive Visitor Centre at Clonmacnoise displays a number of cross slabs and the 9th-century Cross of the Scriptures, as well as giving visitors an authentic sense of the history of this world-renowned heritage site.

Seán Canney TD, Minister of State at the Department of Transport, said the annual awards are “testament to the high standards of quality” that each operator holds and are well-deserved recognition of their work in welcoming.CIÉ Tours visitors to Ireland and providing them with unique and unrivalled experiences”.

Stephen Cotter, Managing Director, CIÉ Tours said 2025 was “another landmark year for CIÉ Tours” during which they booked over 250,000 bed nights throughout Ireland. “That we can offer a unique experience unrivalled by any other country is due in no small part to our many partners who work closely with us, taking the feedback from our visitors and continuously refining their offering” he added.

Mr. Cotter said the support from CIE Tours for tourism destinations is bringing “vital revenue to towns and villages across the country” and he praised all the award recipients.
