Offaly IFA meets with county's three TDs over Bord Bia controversy
Representatives of the Irish Farmers' Association in Offaly recently met with the county's three TDs to lobby them in relation to the ongoing controversy over a decision not to remove Bord Bia chairperson Larry Murrin from his role.
The IFA is calling on the chairman Larry Murrin to step down over the importation of Brazilian meat by his company, Dawn Farms.
As part of that campaign, Offaly IFA members held meetings with TDs Tony McCormack (Fianna Fáil), John Clendennen (Fine Gael) and Carol Nolan (Independent).
On Saturday last, up to 80 farmers staged a protest outside the constituency office of Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon in Newbridge, a gathering which was organised by Kildare members of the IFA.
This followed on from a protest held by farmers at the gates of Leinster House last Thursday.
