Thirteen await beds in local hospital today

Some 13 patients admitted to Portiuncula University Hospital were awaiting beds this morning.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) indicated that eight were in the Emergency Department and five in wards.

Nationally, there were 642 admitted patients waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch. 393 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 249 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

There were no patients awaiting beds in either Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore or Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar, according to the figures.
