Climb for Elaine fundraiser reaches over €23,000
The fundraiser set up to refurbish the Special Care Room outdoor garden at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore is continuing to attract a substantial number of donations this week, and has reached over €23k of its €100k target.
The fundraiser was set up by the family of 46-year old Elaine Healion (née Halloran) from Spollanstown, who passed away in Tullamore hospital on August 11 last year just six weeks after a cancer diagnosis.
The family of the much-loved mother of three young daughters, who worked as a secretary in the hospital for many years, decided to honour her memory by giving something deeply meaningful back to the place that supported then during the most difficult days of their lives through raising funds for the all-weather refurbishment of the hospital's Special Care Room garden.
The fundraiser is hoping to raise €100k and has established an iDonate page https://www.idonate.ie/crowdfunder/climbforelaine where donations can be made. The main fundraising event is a climb of Croagh Patrick on Saturday, March 28 next, and the Healion and Halloran families are inviting friends, colleagues and members of the wider community to join them for the Climb for Elaine event.
