Local charities 'delighted' to be chosen for Faile Vintage Run in Daingean

Since it was set up in 2009, Faile Vintage Club has raised more than €200,000 for local charities through its popular annual vintage run in Daingean.

This year's run takes place on Sunday, March 8, beginning with registration at Seery's bar in Daingean at 10.30am, and the run then commencing at 12.30pm. The entry fee is €25.

This year's beneficiaries are Cappagh NS and Offaly Domestic Violence Support Services (ODVSS).

Christina Popanton of ODVSS said the organisation was delighted when it got the news that it had been chosen as one of this year's recipients.

The funds raised will go along way helping to provide services which include counselling, equine therapy and play therapy for clients. The group provides finance, administration, support and outreach services, along with a child and youth service. It provides help for the whole county and really appreciates the opportunity to participate in this year’s run.

Kris O’Connor, the principal of Cappagh NS, said the school was also very happy to take part in this year’s run.

The school at Croghan, Tullamore, is opening its first autism class in September 2026 and all funds raised will go towards upgrading the existing sensory room.

Mr O'Connor acknowledged the help and support from the parents Association and the community support for Cappagh NS.
