Milestones galore at Mountlucas Parkrun

Mountlucas parkrun number 366, held at the weekend, saw a number of milestones celebrated. Mountlucas parkrun veteran Kevin Curran marked his 250th time volunteering at the event. On this occasion he volunteered as Run Director, responsible for overseeing the overall running of the event on the day.

There were also a number of other milestones celebrated. Mila Bronowicka completed her 25th parkrun. Mila, who is part of Polish Runners Club Ireland, finished the 5km looped course in an impressive time of 29 minutes and 2 seconds.

Husband and wife duo Neil and Emily Farrell both completed their 50th parkrun. Emily had baked a generous selection of beautifully decorated cupcakes, which she shared with other parkrunners. The dry, cold conditions suited Emily, who achieved a new personal best (PB) time of 40 minutes and 10 seconds.

Speaking after the event, Emily said: "Parkrun is addictive; it very quickly turns from a I’ll see what this is all about to becoming part of my Saturday ritual. It is a great event, with a massive welcoming community. I’m delighted to reach the 50 milestone. Achieving a PB on the same day is a reminder that showing up consistently for yourself really does add up. I went from “one day” into day one in November 2024 and I’m so happy I did!"
