Tubber's Megan O'Hara determined to build on Glór Tíre momentum after show exit

Tubber singer Megan O’Hara may not have reached the grand final of TG4's Glór Tíre, but her appearance on the show has projected her as an exciting new name in Irish country music.

Megan appeared on the semi-final of the long-running, hit TG4 music programme last night (Tuesday) delivering impressive performances of Dolly Parton’s ‘Applejack’ and Doris Day’s ‘Que Sera Sera’.

While she would have loved to have made the final, the support Megan has received and the attention gained from being on the long-running show has ensured her musical future looks very bright.

“The support from Offaly and Westmeath throughout the series has been huge,” she said.

“People I haven't seen or heard from in years were contacting me again, but I nearly dropped on the spot when I saw the a video on social media from Frankie Gavin supporting me - one of the most talented fiddle players there is.

"You couldn't ask for more than that. I never in a million years would have thought Frankie Gavin would know who I am!”

With her Glór Tíre run concluded, Megan is now determined to build on that momentum and push her country music career forward.

“The phone has been hopping. I haven't had to look for many gigs now. They've just been coming in,” Megan said.

“Glór Tíre is such a massive platform. People know my name now. I'm going to keep working, keep getting gigs. I also have a band with my Mum, Teresa, The Band Sí, and we’re going to keep pushing that as well."

Megan noted that her mother Teresa has been "a massive influence" on her.

"I want to make her proud. It really is a win-win. Just being here, people seeing you, the exposure, it's just amazing. I wouldn't be able to get the gigs I'm getting now if it wasn’t for Glór Tíre.”
