Doon GAA wish local duo good luck for All-Ireland final

Offaly will be well represented later today (Thursday, March 19) when Moate Community School strive to retain their title against Sacred Heart, Westport in the All-Ireland Junior 'A' final at Orchard Park, Elphin (1pm).

And Doon GAA are wishing local duo, Ríona Foley and Anna Ryan, the very best of luck for another massive occasion for the Westmeath school.

The club have said that 'it’s hard to believe that Anna and Ríona are only 16. Even more incredible, they will be lining out in their fifth major final in just two years. Anna (joint-captain) and Ríona (vice-captain), alongside their Moate CS team-mates, are aiming to make it back-to-back All-Ireland U16 titles. Already, they’ve built an outstanding record with two Leinster U16 titles (2025 & 2026), a Leinster Senior title (2026), an All-Ireland U16 title (2025), and a Leinster U14 'A' title. A fifth final in two years might sound routine but at grade 'A' level, there’s nothing routine about competing with the very best schools in the country'.

The Doon club added that 'no matter the result today, everyone at Doon GAA is incredibly proud of both players. We’re right behind you all the way. Best of luck to Anna, Ríona, their team-mates, and all at Moate Community School'.

The Offaly players on Moate Community School panel are: Ríona Foley (St Manchan’s), Mella Casey (St Manchan’s), Anna Ryan (joint-captain, Naomh Ciaran), Heidi Murray (St Manchan’s), Heather Touhey (St Manchan’s), Mila Fralkova (St Manchan’s), Diana Heavin (St Manchan’s).
