Tullamore Toastmasters celebrates recent successes by members

The latest meeting of Tullamore Toastmasters at Fergie’s Bar featured debut performances, a significant keynote presentation, and a show of support for one of its champion speakers.

Club President Timothy Green presided over the evening, handling both the opening and closing proceedings with professional poise. The night was particularly significant for two members, Greg Doorly and Gary Lambden, who stepped into their respective roles for the very first time. Greg took on the vital task of Timekeeper, while Gary made his debut as Topicsmaster. Both delivered their duties with confidence, contributing to the seamless flow of the event.

The formal proceedings began with a substantial presentation by Catherine Ryan, who delivered a 10-12 minute speech titled "Reflecting on Your Path" as part of her Dynamic Leadership pathway. This was followed by a focused evaluation session by Eileen Fleming.

Following the interval, Gary Lambden’s first outing as Topicsmaster took center stage. His selection of excellent topics challenged the room and sparked a series of lively, creative, and engaging impromptu responses from the members in attendance.

The meeting also served as a celebration of the club’s recent competitive success in the Area 9 contests. Members took a moment to applaud Catherine Ryan (3rd place, Speech Contest) and Dan Dold (2nd place, Table Topics).

Special recognition was given to Eileen Fleming, who secured 1st place in the Evaluation category. As the meeting concluded, Timothy Green extended the club’s warmest wishes to Eileen as she prepares to represent Tullamore in the Division F Evaluation Competition this Saturday, March 28. The event will take place at the Longford Arms Hotel at 11am, and the entire club is rooting for her success.

Tullamore Toastmasters continues to meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at Fergie’s Bar, Market Square. The next gatherings are scheduled for April 9 and 23 at 8pm. New members and guests are always welcome.
