New Affordable Purchase Scheme to be launched in Kilbeggan

Westmeath County Council, in partnership with Brennan McCann Developments, has announced the launch of a new Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme at Coola Meadows in Kilbeggan.

A total of 10 homes will be made available under the scheme at reduced prices for successful applicants. The development will include a mix of two- and three-bedroom houses, with starting prices from €275,000.

The level of discount applied to each property will vary depending on individual circumstances, including household income and mortgage capacity. The final purchase price paid by applicants will be determined following an assessment process.

The scheme will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1 will comprise four homes, including two two-bedroom semi-detached houses and two three-bedroom semi-detached houses.

Prices in this phase will start from €275,000 for two-bedroom units and €315,000 for three-bedroom homes, subject to applicant eligibility.

The online application portal for Phase 1 will open at 12 noon on Monday, May 11, 2026, and will remain open for a three-week period, closing at midnight on Monday, June 1.

The scheme is open to first-time buyers, as well as those who qualify under the Fresh Start Principle. Applicants are required to have mortgage approval in principle in place at the time of application. All submissions will be assessed in accordance with Westmeath County Council’s Scheme of Priority.
