Supermac's lodges plan for houses near Obama Plaza

Supermac’s has submitted a planning application for a small residential development near its Obama Plaza service station in Moneygall.

The planning bid, which Supermac’s Ireland Ltd lodged with Offaly County Council on Wednesday, April 1, proposes the construction of four semi-detached, four-bedroom houses within the village’s established settlement boundary.

The applicant said Moneygall was identified as a location suitable for residential growth under the County Development Plan, and that the proposed development was in keeping with the scale and density of nearby housing.

According to the application, the scheme is designed to provide modern, durable and sustainable homes, while enhancing the character of the village and supporting community vitality.

Each of the houses is set to achieve a minimum A-rated Building Energy Rating (BER), with features such as high levels of insulation, airtight construction and energy-efficient systems aimed at reducing energy use and carbon emissions.

Access to the development would be via a 150-metre link road connecting the R445 and Church Road.

The Offaly Independent contacted Supermac's to ask about the proposed use of the housing, but a company representative said it doesn't comment on active planning applications.

A decision on the application is expected by Tuesday, May 26.
