Rain garden project in Clara
The Clara Tidy Towns group has completed work on a new rain garden project located on River Street, outside the Family Resource Centre.
With grants sourced from three different funding schemes, the committee has transformed this area in the heart of the town.
Planting was completed earlier this week, and the garden will mature over the next two years.
A rain garden is a shallow, planted depression designed to capture, absorb, and filter rainwater runoff from surfaces such as roofs, driveways, and streets.
Instead of water flowing directly into drains, a rain garden allows it to soak into the ground naturally.
They help manage excess rainwater, reduce pressure on drainage systems, and improve water quality by collecting runoff water and allowing it to slowly infiltrate the soil.
