Artists invited to shape Tullamore’s streetscape with new mural initiative

Offaly County Council has announced a new opportunity for artists to play a central role in transforming Tullamore’s public spaces over the coming years.

Working in partnership with Tullamore Tidy Towns, and with support from Creative Ireland, the local authority is establishing an 'artist panel' to deliver a series of large-scale outdoor murals across the town.

The initiative will run from this year until 2030 and aims to create a vibrant, self-guided mural trail through the town centre and along key approach routes.

The project is designed to both enhance the visual appeal of Tullamore and celebrate its unique identity, while providing an engaging cultural experience for residents and visitors.

Offaly County Council said artists selected for the panel will be invited to submit proposals for specific locations or may be directly commissioned to create works at designated sites throughout the programme.

The local authority is currently inviting applications from mural artists interested in joining the panel. The closing date for submissions is 11am on Monday, May 18.

The council said commissions for artists would be in the region of €5,000 to €15,000 per mural.
