Offaly Hospice group calls on schools to host Sunflower Fun Day events
Offaly Hospice Foundation is asking montessoris, creches, pre-schools and primary schools from across the region to host a Hospice Sunflower Fun Day this June to help raise vital funds in support of palliative care services as part of its Hospice Sunflower Days campaign.
The initiative is one of the aspects of Together for Hospice’s Hospice Sunflower Days campaign, which is now in its 36th year.
The group pointed out that every euro raised locally stays locally, and all funds raised through the Fun Day initiative and the Hospice Sunflower Days campaign will be used to support the delivery of specialist palliative care in hospices as well as palliative home care.
Speaking about the initiative, Mary Murphy, Fundraising, Offaly Hospice Foundation, commented, "Hospice Sunflower Days is one of our most important fundraising campaigns, and we depend on the generosity of the public to help raise vital funds. These funds allow us to continue supporting our local Palliative Care Team and the essential services they provide.
"We are asking everyone to give whatever they can during Hospice Sunflower Days, no amount is too small. Your support will make a real difference to patients and families facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
"Every euro raised locally stays in our community, helping those who need it most."
To get involved, select a date in June to host your Hospice Sunflower Fun Day, and register on the website, www.sunflowerdays.ie, to receive a welcome pack.
The welcome pack will include colouring pages and sunflower seeds for the children to enjoy planting during the Fun Day. Families are asked to make a €2 donation on the day, or whatever they can afford, and all funds will go directly their chosen hospice.
You can also help Offaly Hospice Foundation by supporting Hospice Sunflower Days on-street collections which will be taking place from Thursday, June 11 to Saturday, June 13.
