A call to arms for aspiring local musicians

A free workshop will soon be held in Offaly for aspiring musicians and those interested in the business side of the music industry.

The event will be hosted by Laois/Offaly Education & Training Board (LOETB) and takes place at its base in Townsend Street, Birr on Thursday, May 7 (3pm).

The event is aimed at people looking to break into the music business or take their creative career to the next level.

LOETB Birr has described the event as a fast-paced, insightful workshop entitled 'What's a Hit in 2026? Music Industry Panel'.

This is a completely free event designed to provide invaluable knowledge on how to get your music heard while earning a living, LOETB said. Among the topics to be discussed will be examples of how to understand royalties and artists' rights. There will also be information about navigating the Industry and the value of radio play.

The special guests for the day will be Keith Johnson (Marketing Director, IMRO), Aaron Casey (International Operations Manager, RAAP), Gui Morais (A&R and Business Development, Symphonic), and Marlon Shanley (Irish Composer and Host, Dublin South FM).
