Offaly senior hurling goalkeeper Liam Hoare has been named on the GAA.ie 'Team of the Week'.

The Carrig & Riverstown player is the sole Offaly representative named on the team following his county's loss to Galway in the Leinster senior hurling championship on Sunday.

The Faithful County custodian made a number of vital saves in the first half of the contest as Offaly tested their Pearse Stadium opponents for large spells of this round robin fixture.

Late goals from Conor Cooney and Rory Burke helped Galway to withstand a second half Offaly rally as Johnny Kelly's team built on their solid opening round draw with Dublin.

With 15 minutes remaining in the contest the hosts held a four point lead but the concession of two late green flags saw Galway claim an eleven point win.

Offaly have one point from their two provincial fixtures played to date and host reigning Leinster hurling champions Kilkenny in their third championship outing in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Sunday, May 10 at 3pm.
