Offaly students to appear on TG4 quiz show this evening

A team from Gallen Community School in Ferbane, made up of students Cathal McCarthy, Lorna Colclough and Aimée Fitzgerald will be appearing on an Irish language quiz show on TG4 this evening (Tuesday).

The local school's team faced Gonzaga College, Dublin, in an episode of Slé Anois go Cúramach that will air on TG4 from 7.30pm to 8pm.

The show aired for the first time last month with another Midlands school - the Marist College in Athlone - featuring in the first episode.

The show sees two schools go head-to-head each week in a series of five lively studio-based rounds that test listening skills, vocabulary, cultural knowledge and improvisation.

TG4 said Slé Anois go Cúramach is "a fast-paced, funny and fearless educational quiz series that proves two simple ideas: effort matters more than perfection, and you have much more Irish than you think you have!"

The show's ten-week run is designed to appeal to "teenagers, families and anyone curious about improving their Irish".
