Leading trainers Mullins and Elliott to feature in Kilbeggan

Kilbeggan hosts an early summer Jumps card this Friday evening (May 15), with seven races taking place.

The likes of Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott will have runners on the card as National Hunt racing continues in Westmeath, with the action getting underway at 4:45pm.

The first race of the day at 4:45 is the SIS Supporting Irish Racing Maiden Hurdle, with 17 runners opening the card. Given this race is not stacked with quality, Fabhcun looks like he could defy recent performances as he returns for Gordon Elliott.

Then, at 5:20, the BOMAG Construction Handicap Hurdle sees Malbay Madness return to defend the race won last year for Dermot McLoughlin. However, top weight could be an issue and Dontgowithjoe on a hat-trick and 1lb in hand looks promising. Westmeath trainer Ciaran Murphy has the talented Titanium in this race.

The third race at 5:55 is the CK Interiors Maiden Hurdle, with plenty of promising newcomers among the 19 runners. Springhill Warrior’s withdrawal has blown the field wide open, with Backinbusiness under Darragh O’Keeffe a noteworthy runner on a hurdles debut.

Ciaran Murphy has Facile Ocean and Majestic Mayhem in the same race.

At 6:30, the Winning Post Service Station Handicap Hurdle has nine runners, with Mordor returning to hurdles for the first time since the 2025 Martin Pipe at Cheltenham as a leading contender.

Up next, in the Cooke's Bar And Restaurant Caragh Beginners Chase at 7:05, 17 runners will contest the race over fences. Rockstown Girl won over hurdles in March before a second over fences last month at Wexford and will hope to carry on from this strong spring form. Drop A Threat is interesting for Willie Mullins, with Danny Mullins in the saddle.

The penultimate race is the Shanette Superior Space Handicap Chase at 7:40, with Torquay Road in the picture as he continues his chasing career having placed twice in three starts and now returning to 2 ½ miles.

Finally, at 8:05pm, the Racing Again May 31st (Pro/Am) Flat Race has a former €82,000 three-year-old running for Willie Mullins, in the form of World As One. Patrick Mullins will take the ride and hope to get the better of Jack Owen Jack for the in-form Charles Byrnes.

Treadonmydreams is a big outsider for Ciaran Murphy of Charlestown Racing, Mullingar.
