Local tidy towns committee appeal for more volunteers
Despite making great progress on several projects in recent weeks, Tullamore Tidy Towns is calling out for more volunteers to help the ongoing clean-up effort.
On Wednesday, the group of volunteers started the planting process around Tullamore and completed the Patrick Street planters, which are sponsored by Tullamore Credit Union.
However, the Tidy Towns committee has said that 'volunteer numbers are low compared to previous years'.
“Great work is being done but Tullamore Tidy Towns need people to come out and support us,” the committee said.
On Wednesday, aside from the planting the group power-hosed the railings at the Tullamore river, beside the wetland, and began scuffing weeds and tidying the pathways from the town park to the wetland.
The group also painted some boxes around the town and graffiti was covered over, but it said there is 'many more eye-sore spots to be addressed'.
For anyone interested in helping out the group, it meets every Sunday from 8.30am on William Street and each Wednesday at 7pm in Kilbride Plaza.
