Offaly forward nominated for GAA.ie 'Hurler of the Week'

Offaly forward Eoghan Cahill has been nominated for the GAA.ie 'Hurler of the Week' award.

The Birr club player played a pivotal scoring role in The Faithful County's 17 point win over Kildare on Sunday, a victory which propelled Offaly into the All-Ireland quarter-final stage of this year's championship.

Cahill scored 13 points as Offaly completed their Leinster hurling championship campaign with a comprehensive win, in the process securing a third place finish on the provincial table and progression to the All-Ireland series at the expense of Kilkenny.

Cahill deputised for the injured Adam Screeney during Offaly's draw with Kilkenny in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on May 10 scoring 15 points.

The corner forward scored 1-12 in the subsequent win over Wexford, while his scoring haul at the weekend has added to his prowess in the Offaly jersey.

Dublin's Brian Hayes and Cork forward Shane Barrett have also been nominated for the award, the winner of which will be announced tomorrow.
