Offaly players recognised for Tailteann Cup displays

Two Offaly senior footballers have been named on the GAA.ie 'Team of the Week' following their Tailteann Cup winning exploits at the weekend.

Centrefielder Jordan Hayes and forward Dylan Hyland were recognised for their contributions to The Faithful County's eight point win over competition favourites Down in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Saturday.

Hayes contributed five points to his county's cause, while Hyland scored 1-11 of the team's 3-22 scoreline to ensure consecutive championship victories for Offaly.

Hyland was also nominated for the GAA.ie 'Player of the Week', but the accolade was awarded to Steven Sherlock of Cork.

Offaly are right back in the conversation as potential Tailteann Cup winners now after backing up their superb away win against Clare in Round 1 of the competition.

They will play one of the winning counties from the Round 3 fixtures on the weekend of June 13-14.
