Offaly residents urged to be aware of illegal bin collectors

Offaly County Council has issued a warning to county residents to be vigilant about unauthorised bin collectors in the region.

The council said it is aware of online advertisements promoting waste collection services, stating that people should be aware that all waste collectors in the country must have a valid waste collection permit to operate legally.

Furthermore, the council urges people to always ensure that waste is collected and disposed of by a registered and permitted waste provider, saying that if a person uses unauthorised bin collectors, they may be liable for prosecution.

The council said that if people are in doubt about the authenticity of bin collectors, they should check mywaste.ie
