Dunne continues impressive early season F2 form

Offaly racing driver Alex Dunne achieved a fourth podium place of his FIA Formula 2 championship season when he finished in the runner-up position at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.

Dunne is now placed fourth in the overall championship standings following the fourth F2 race of the 2026 season.

The Rodin Motorsport driver continued his impressive early season form following his second place finish in the Canadian Grand Prix and remains firmly in contention for overall F2 championship honours as the season continues in Barcelona this weekend.

The Clonbollogue native passed the chequered flag nine seconds behind feature race winner Nikola Tsolov who sits second in the overall F2 championship standings.

Speaking at the FIA Formula 2 post race press conference, Dunne said achieving "consistency" was his goal for the season.

"Staying out of trouble and just picking up the points is all I'm trying to do. I think there's no point going into every weekend trying really hard to put it on pole and win the race. If we can just be in the top five all the time, all the way until the end of the year, then that should score pretty good points," Dunne said.
