'Bigfoot' film shot in Offaly to premiere at Galway Film Fleadh
An independent film that was shot on location in and around Tullamore last November will have its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh next week.
'Bigfoot Lover', the making of which was supported by FilmOffaly's short film award bursary, is to be shown at the prestigious international festival in Galway on Wednesday, July 8.
Written and directed by Megan Murphy, 'Bigfoot Lover' was produced by Conor McCormick for Carousel Pictures.
It's described as "a surreal story of a heartbroken and lonely woman who is struggling to escape self-destructive patterns in her love life... then she meets Bigfoot!"
Actor Darragh Shannon stars, in full make-up and prosthetics, as the titular furry beast.
"The costume is so realistic that dog walkers in Charleville Forest were forced to double-take when they happened upon the crew at work last year," said a statement issued on behalf of FilmOffaly.
The premiere of 'Bigfoot Lover' will take place in Galway's Town Hall Theatre at 12pm on July 8, and it will be screening in Ireland across a wide selection of festivals in the coming year.
This is the second year running that a FilmOffaly bursary winner has made it to the Galway Film Fleadh.
The fleadh has taken place every July since 1989, with this year's event being held in various venues across the city from July 7-12.
