Council publishes list of planned anti-litter CCTV cameras
Offaly County Council has published a list of locations where it intends to install CCTV over the coming months.
The council said the purpose of installing CCTV at these locations is to detect and deter illegal dumping and littering.
It said the move is in accordance with the Codes of Practice on the Operation of CCTV for the purposes of prevention, detection, and prosecution of Litter & Waste Offences. A litter fine or legal action will be issued, where appropriate, under the Litter and Waste legislation. The list of specific locations is outlined below:
Bring Centres
Tesco Tullamore; Leisure Centre, Clara; Council Depot, Banagher; Clareen GAA; Ballybrit
Urban Sites
Tullamore: St. Columba’s Place/Tara Crescent/ Cloncollig/Ard na Greine/ Junction of Main St/O’Molloy St/ Kilbride
Please note that this list is subject to budget and CCTV may not be installed at every site during this scheme.
Any submissions can be made by the public to “environment@offalycoco.ie” . Closing date for all submissions is Friday, July10, at 5pm.
