Offaly Fire and Rescue Service urges caution as dry weather increases fire risk
Offaly Fire and Rescue Service is urging the public to take extra care during the current spell of warm, dry weather, warning that the conditions have significantly increased the risk of fires.
The service said firefighters have responded to a number of incidents in recent days, sharing photographs from some of the call-outs to highlight the dangers posed by the dry conditions.
Residents are being reminded to exercise caution when using barbecues and to ensure that all embers are fully extinguished before leaving the area.
The fire service is also encouraging members of the public to report any fires as soon as they are spotted.
"The earlier we get there, the safer it is for everyone," the service said, stressing that early intervention can help prevent small fires from developing into more serious incidents.
