Offaly duo to tee off in The Open today

Two Offaly golfers will tee off at The Open in Royal Birkdale today.

Shane Lowry will be hoping to repeat his heroics of 2019 when he collected the Claret Jug when Royal Portrush hosted The Open.

Lowry is on the first tee at 2.53pm today, Thursday, alongside American Brooks Koepka, a five-time major winner, and Aaron Rai of England, who sealed his first major win only two months ago in the US PGA Championship.

Tullamore native Stuart Grehan (Amateur) is also in the field as part of his prize for winning the Amateur Championship earlier this year in Liverpool.

He tees off at 12.14pm in a group that also contains US duo Cameron Smith, the 2022 US Open champion, and Keith Mitchell.
