Offaly sports enthusiast to hold memorabilia auction for charity

Well-known Offaly sports fanatic Carthage Buckley, a former GAA referee, has announced details of an exciting sports memorabilia charity auction to be held soon.

Carthage, who is originally from Ballycumber but long-time resident in Clara, has amassed a vast and varied collection of sport memorabilia over many years, including Leinster and All-Ireland programmes, signed jerseys, FA Cup final programmes, photographs, sports books and much more.

And he will be auctioning off many of these items on Friday, August 7 at Gallen Community School, Ferbane, in aid of Dochas Offaly Cancer Support Group.

Carthage sadly lost his son, John, to cancer and is keen to show his gratitude to Dochas for its help and support during this difficult time for his family.

Clara's former All-Ireland hurling final referee Brian Gavin is pencilled in to conduct the auction, which will begin at 6.30pm (immediately after a period of viewing that starts at 3pm).
