Magic mushrooms seized after local Gardai clock driver at 167km on motorway

Laois/Offaly Gardai seized magic mushrooms and cannabis from a vehicle that was detected travelling at 167 kilometres per hour on a motorway in recent days.

Outlining details of the incident, Gardai said the driver was travelling on the M8 in a BMW which was detected at 167km per hour - some 47 kilometres above the speed limit.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, with officers seizing quantities of magic mushrooms and cannabis.

The motorist is now facing a court date at Portlaoise District Court.

"The only trip continuing that evening was the one to the Garda station," said An Garda Síochána Laois/Offaly in a social media post.

It added: "The M8 isn't Rainbow Road. Mushroom boosts only work in Mario Kart... not in a BMW."
