Birr singing teacher wins second consecutive National Royal Irish Academy of Music Award
Birr vocal coach Yvonne O'Toole has been recognised by the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) for the second year in a row, receiving the prestigious RIAM Spotlight Teacher Award in recognition of her students' outstanding success in RIAM Performance Examinations.
Yvonne is the founder of Voice by Yvonne O'Toole, a singing academy that has become one of the Midlands' leading centres for vocal training.
Receiving the award for a second consecutive year is a significant achievement, reflecting both the consistently high standard of her teaching and the exceptional performances of her students.
With almost two decades of experience as a professional performer, Yvonne has appeared at some of Ireland's most prestigious venues and events. She brings that real-world performance experience into every lesson, helping students develop not only strong vocal technique but also confidence, stage presence and musicianship.
Over the past number of years, Voice by Yvonne O'Toole has grown from a small private teaching studio into a flourishing singing academy, welcoming students from across Offaly, Galway, Tipperary and the wider Midlands.
The academy offers expert tuition in classical, contemporary and musical theatre styles, with students regularly achieving outstanding RIAM examination results, performing in concerts and competitions, and progressing to further study in the performing arts.
The RIAM Spotlight Teacher Award celebrates teachers whose students have demonstrated exceptional achievement in Performance Examinations and recognises the dedication, expertise and encouragement that inspire students to perform at their very best.
Speaking about the award, Yvonne said: “To receive this recognition for a second consecutive year is incredibly special. While my name appears on the certificate, this award really belongs to my students. Their commitment, hard work and willingness to challenge themselves continue to inspire me every week. Watching their confidence grow and seeing them achieve their goals is the greatest reward any teacher could ask for."
She added: “I'm also so grateful to the parents and families who place their trust in me. Building a supportive environment where every student feels encouraged to find their own voice has always been at the heart of what I do, and it's wonderful to see that work recognised nationally once again."
