File being prepared for DPP on Ballinasloe shooting incident

A man arrested in relation to the investigation into the discharge of a firearm in Ballinasloe in the early hours of Monday has been released without charge.

Gardai, said on Wednesday they had arrested the man, aged in his 20s, in connection with the investigation.

The incident occurred at at a residence at Dunlo area of Ballinasloe at approximately 3.15am on Monday.

Gardai said today a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Following the incident, a man in his 20s was taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for injuries that were described by the Garda spokesperson as "non-life-threatening".

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

"Any person who was in the vicinity of the Cúlán Eiscir Riada area on the morning of Monday, August 3, between 2:30am and 4am, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make this footage available to Gardaí," the Garda spokesperson said.
