A sporting summer to remember continues for Rahan golfer Ella Cantwell.

The Esker Hills Golf Club member has received an invitation to play at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open in the K Club on Thursday and Friday of next week in recognition of her recent achievements.

Ella recently returned to the top of the Bridgestone Women’s Order of Merit rankings after her semi-final run at the AIG Irish Women’s Amateur Close Championship.

The talented Offaly golfer started the summer by winning the inaugural West of Ireland Women’s Amateur Open Championship at Castle Dargan Golf Club, the 17 year old producing a superb performance to secure an eight-shot victory, equalling the course record in the process.

Tullamore Golf Club, where Ella plays as a junior member, said the invitation to play at the K Club was a "massive achievement" and recognition of her "talent and hard work".

"A huge congratulations to Ella on this brilliant accomplishment. We’re all very proud of you and wish you the very best next week".
