Top rugby stars set for Tullamore fundraiser

Top Irish rugby stars will be in attendance at the Tullamore Court Hotel this evening (Friday) for a special charity event in aid of Cancer Fund for Children.

Athlone's Robbie Henshaw will be among the special guests, while fellow rugby stars Jack Conan, James Lowe, Garry Ringrose and James Ryan will also be in attendance for the 'Beyond a Try' event.

The night is aiming to help raise €50,000 in aid of Cancer Fund for Children in order to support the development of a new therapeutic centre in Mayo.

The rugby stars will take to the stage for an exclusive panel discussion hosted by renowned rugby coach, broadcaster and commentator Bernard Jackman.

The players are expected to offer insight into life at the highest level of the game, from Six Nations campaigns and Grand Slam victories to British & Irish Lions tours, dressing-room stories, the highs and lows of professional rugby, and life beyond the pitch.

'Beyond The Try' has been organised by Nigel Reams, founder and CEO of Lumcloon Energy, who is taking part in Rory Best’s 'Miles to Mayo Challenge' to further help reach the fundraising target of €50,000.

Cancer Fund for Children provides specialist therapeutic and emotional support, helping families cope with the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis.

Speaking ahead of the event, Nigel Reams said: “We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the event so far.

“To have these incredible Irish rugby players joining us, along with Bernard Jackman, is a fantastic opportunity for supporters and it's going to be a great evening,” Mr Reams added.

* Tickets for 'Beyond The Try' are €40, with doors opening at 7pm at the Tullamore Court Hotel. People can also make donations to Nigel Reams’ Just Giving page at: www.justgiving.com/page/nigel-reams-1
