Jack and Jill shop in Tullamore prepares to host fundraising 'power hour' event
Offaly people are being urged to get behind 'Power Hour for Jack and Jill', a nationwide fundraising campaign that aims to turn hours of fun and fundraising into vital hours of in-home nursing care for local families.
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, which supports five families in Offaly, has joined forces with Today FM for nationwide Power Hour fundraising campaign
The charity's boutique at 3 O'Moore Street in Tullamore will be powering the activity locally by hosting a 'Power Hour Day' on Friday, 25 September, with coffee, cake, bargains and a very special shave-or-dye fundraiser.
Visitors can enjoy the boutique’s 'Power Coffee Morning', browse the store with 20% off, and cast their vote as to whether shop manager Mark O’Shea should shave-or-dye his very impressive beard!
Every €20 raised during the day will help fund one hour of in-home nursing care and respite support for local Jack and Jill families.
Members of the public are encouraged to visit the shop, support the local team and find out more about Power Hour.
The campaign will be supported by Today FM across three weeks, with listeners hearing powerful family stories, fundraising challenges and special on-air activity highlighting the difference Jack and Jill care makes.
Power Hour will culminate on Friday, 25 September, when Today FM will dedicate a full day to the campaign, with fundraising activity taking place across the country.
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides up to 100 hours of in-home nursing care and respite support each month to families caring for children up to the age of seven with severe learning disabilities, often associated with complex medical needs. It currently supports five families in Offaly and more than 530 families nationwide.
Jack and Jill is calling on people across Offaly to choose any one-hour activity and use it to raise funds. It could be a coffee morning, bake sale, quiz, dance-off, spin class, sponsored silence, sunrise yoga session, workplace challenge or community event. Whatever the activity, every €20 raised will provide one hour of care for a Jack and Jill family.
