Meghana Vashisht will present a recital of Bharatanatyam dance as part of the multi-cultural dance show on Culture Night in Tullamore.

Dances from around the world in Tullamore this Friday

As the country revels in creativity and arts events to celebrate Culture Night on Friday, September 18, Offaly's audience are up for a 'world-class' experience. The Culture Night programme in Tullamore will showcase remarkable talent across poetry, theatre, craft, song, dance and comedy. Among this year's highlights is 'Ancestral Echoes to Streetwise Steps', a multicultural dance production coming to the main auditorium of Esker Arts Centre, at 7:30pm.

Staging diversity at the forefront, the performance will take audience through the world's living cultures, opening with an Indian classical solo by Meghana Vashist, before moving into a dynamic streetwise fusion featuring Bubble Lock blending Indian dance and Hip Hop. His performance will be followed by The Red Embers showcasing their Tribal-Hip Hop Fusion evolution, and a soulful, theatrical finale by Mandy McLoughlin and her dance group, performing with stunning Isis Wings to a soaring modern classical violin piece.

With an international cast of Irish, Canadian, American, Spanish and Indian performers, this production celebrates culture not as a museum piece, but as a living, breathing force that grows and connects us all — across every age, ability and background.

Earlier that same day, Bubble Lock group will also perform a special sneak preview dance that is part of the show called The One: A Hero? A King? A God? A Saviour? at Castletown Community Centre, Co. Laois, as part of a wonderful cross-county collaboration with Laois County Council.

Culture Night is funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and the Creative Ireland Programme, in partnership with Offaly County Council and with local support from Laois County Council.
