Profile of a Parkrunner: Meet Terry

Meet Terry Wearen from Rahugh, who is a regular at Mountlucas parkrun and recently completed his 50th parkrun.

When did you first complete a parkrun?

I completed my first parkrun in February 2025 at Mountlucas parkrun. Myself and my wife, Sinéad, both love running and decided to go together and see what it was all about

What is your favourite thing about parkrun?

My favourite thing has to be the community. No matter where you turn up for a parkrun you are greeted like a returning old friend.

I also love the post run discussions at any parkrun. As they are only timed for each persons individual effort, achieving a personal best (PB) is a cause for celebration by everyone and whoever achieves a PB is usually the subject of some good natured "comments" and genuine support.

How does it feel to have reached the significant milestone of 50 parkruns?

Reaching the 50 milestone is nice, and has taken over 18 months to achieve due to volunteering to help run the events some weekends and missing some weekends due to other commitments.

What words would you use to describe Mountlucas parkrun?

Mountlucas parkrun to me is - friendly, comfortable and inspiring.

Mountlucas parkrun takes place at Bord na Móna Mountlucas windfarm every Saturday morning at 9.30am sharp. There's something for everyone at Mountlucas parkrun whether you want to walk, run, volunteer or just meet new people.
