Hat-trick for Midlands 103 at this year’s IMRO Radio Awards
Midlands 103 is celebrating a hat-trick of success at this year’s IMRO Radio Awards.
The team brought home gold, silver and bronze from the gala event in Kilkenny on Friday.
Breakfast with Peter Dunne was crowned best breakfast programme in Ireland, and its entry ‘Breakfast at the Ploughing’ took gold.
It is the station’s first gold in the Breakfast Programme category.
The station was also recognised among the country’s leading local broadcasters, and took silver in the Local Station of the Year category. The took a bronze award in 2024.
There was further success for presenter and producer Peter Dunne, whose special feature ‘30 Years Settling the Score’ was awarded bronze.
The programme explored the music sampled to create the Fugees’ seven times platinum album ‘The Score’.
The Mullingar man also produced the Fatboy Slim retrospective ‘25 Years Is a Long Way Baby’, which won silver in the same category in 2024.
Sister station South East Radio is taking gold back to Wexford after Morning Mix with Alan Corcoran was named Best Local Current Affairs Programme in Ireland.

“Quality content like that is the reason Midlands 103 made the podium for best local station in Ireland for the second time in three years.”
The IMRO Radio Awards ceremony at The Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny brought together broadcasters from across the country to celebrate the best of Irish radio.
The three awards for Midlands 103, alongside the gold for South East Radio, mark a successful night for the stations and their teams, highlighting the quality and breadth of broadcasting being produced across the group.
