Tullamore 2-16 Ferbane 1-13
Tullamore claimed their fourth successive Offaly senior football championship title with a six point win over perennial final rivals Ferbane in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Sunday.
The club's win, their 32nd senior football championship honour, was wholly deserved as they dominated second half proceedings, despite the concession of a 32nd minute goal to Ferbane's scorer-in-chief Cian Johnson.
That goal put Ferbane in the ascendancy by three points but a Declan Hogan goal on 40 minutes restored Tullamore's lead and saw the victors press home their advantage in the game's closing quarter.
The game was evenly poised in the opening half, a 24th minute goal from Tullamore full forward Harry Plunkett, being the first of the final's three green flags.
However, the third goal of the contest set the tone for what was to come as Tullamore exerted their scoring authority and were not to be headed in the game's closing stages, the team's six point win reflective of their collective performance.
The Dowling Cup returns to Tullamore where it has resided since 2023. It is the club's second four-in-a-row and their first since 1900.
Tullamore will now play the winner of the Dublin senior football championship final between Cuala and Castleknock in their opening provincial encounter on November 1.
