Uisce Éireann work to restore supply as Offaly suffers another burst water main
Uisce Éireann has said it is working on restoring water supply following a burst water main today (Wednesday) at Clonin, Fahy, Rhode.
It said that following multiple bursts on the water network since last Thursday, crews are on-site carrying out repairs and every effort is being made to restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible.
In a statement issued by Uisce Éireann, it said that customers and businesses in Clonin, Fahy, Rhode, and surrounding areas in Offaly, 'may experience further disruptions to their water supply today following another burst water main'.
'We continue to monitor supply closely and, where possible, supplement the supply to minimise disruption for customers', the statement read.
James Joyce, Uisce Éireann, said: "We understand how inconvenient an unexpected water interruption can be for the people of Rhode and the surrounding areas. Our main priority is fixing this burst and returning a normal supply to all our customers. We really appreciate everyone in the community bearing with us while our crews get water back to homes and businesses."
Repairs are expected to be completed by this evening, Uisce Éireann said.
Uisce Éireann advised that once repairs have been completed, water supplies will return gradually over the following hours. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the water network refills, it said.
