Offaly woman raises over €990 as she shaves head for charity
Rhode woman Carmel Larkin has raised over €990 after shaving her head for charity.
The fundraising shave took place on Saturday, October 31, in Tullamore.
Carmel will donate the proceeds to Scottish registered charity the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund, which built a respite holiday home in Stirlingshire, Scotland, for young people and their families who have been touched by cancer, in Eilidh's memory.
Eilidh Brown died from cancer on March 25, 2010, aged just 15. Her parents, Gordon and Nicole Brown, established the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund in 2011.
After years of fundraising, the Memorial Fund officially opened the Eilish Brown House in May of 2022.
Speaking about the inspiration behind her fundraiser, Mrs Larkin said: "This is a home that was built on love in memory of Eilidh, and families from all over get to spend a wonderful week to build lasting memories with each other [if their] child [has] cancer.
"I’ve been to four different charity events in the past year and a half, and have donated to each of them."
