Six Offaly schools receive funding under Climate Action Summer Works Scheme 2027

Six Offaly schools have been approved for funding under Climate Action Summer Works Scheme 2027.

The six successful Offaly schools include Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Eoin, which has been approved for toilet facility improvements, Ballykilmurry National School for mechanical works and St. Joseph’s National School for electrical upgrades.

Ardscoil Chiaráin Naofa has received approval for window replacement works, while Tullamore College and St. Brendan’s Community School have both been approved for roof improvement projects.

Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton announced a total of €80 million for projects across the country under the 2027 Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.

The Climate Action Summer Works Scheme is a key element of the department’s programme of investment in the school estate.

It supports schools in addressing building condition needs while delivering climate action measures that improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs.

The projects approved under this tranche were assessed and prioritised by the department based on the individual needs of schools and the urgency of the works required.

A particular focus this year was supporting projects in special schools.

This announcement represents the second tranche of approvals under the multi-annual Climate Action Summer Works Scheme arising from applications submitted in 2025.

TD for Offaly, John Clendennen said the investments will make a "real difference" to the lives of students, teachers and school communities.

"Ensuring our schools have modern, safe and energy-efficient facilities is essential, and it is good to see investment reaching both primary and post-primary schools across the county.Investment in education is an investment in the future of our communities.

"While continuing to deliver new school facilities, we must also prioritise the upgrading and maintenance of our existing schools, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of pupils and staff while delivering the best possible value for taxpayers’ money.

“I look forward to seeing these six projects progress and will continue working closely with school communities and the Minister to secure further investment in educational facilities throughout Offaly."
