New classroom for Ballinamere NS
Autism Ireland CEO Kevin Whelan will officially open a new classroom in Ballinamere NS tomorrow (Thursday) along with parent and project fundraiser Liam Claffey.
Speaking to the Offaly Independent school principal Larry Fleming said the new room will bring to three the number of classrooms in the school's autism unit, which caters for 18 children.
The new classroom has been privately funded as a result of €100,000 raised by those involved with the school in recent years.
Ballinamere NS caters for a total of 250 pupils and employs 15 teachers and ten SNAs. The school has operated an autism unit since 2002, while a new school building was opened in 2005.
Tomorrow's official opening will get underway at 11.30am, and refreshments will be served afterwards.
