Harriers athletes perform well in Connemara Marathon
The Connemara Marathon took place on the bright sunny morning of April 1st. There are actually three events on the one day, in one of the most scenic areas in the West of Ireland - the Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Ultra Marathon. Two Tullamore Harriers ladies Alma Ravenhill and Annmarie McNamara headed west and completed the challenging course in a time of 4hrs 07min. Larry Rigney added this event to his long list of marathons and finished in a time of 4hrs 31mins. George Webb represented the Harriers in the Ultra marathon which is a long 39.3 miles and he finished in a fine time of 5hrs 50mins. Rhode 10K The competitive 10k race that was run on April 1st starting in Rhode village was part of the challenging and gruelling 100k run which local man Niall Murphy completed in his remarkable attempt to raise funds for Autism Ireland. Pauline Curley was first lady home followed by Mary Bracken. The first man home was Catch Grennan, with Dave Fox second and Jason Donegan third. Ballinasloe 10K Tullamore Harriers featured again on the podium in Ballinasloe on Sunday 1st of April. Noel Kelly was first man home in the Ballinasloe 10k in a fine time of 33mins. Business Houses Races The Dublin City Council held their annual road races on Saturday March 31st, in St. Anne's Park, Raheny. In the men's four-miler, John Todd was 73rd overall and 1st, O/60 in a time of 24:42. Fixtures - April Friday 6th April: Emo Forest Run, 6pm. Sunday 8th April: Slieve Bloom 10k and Half Marathon, Clonalsee. Sunday 15th April: National 10k (Great Ireland Run), Phoenix Park, Dublin. Sunday 22nd April: AAI National Road Relay Championships, Raheny. Saturday 19th: Leinster Senior Road race, Rathdrum, Co Wicklow. Tuesday 22nd: Enfield 5k, Johnstownbridge, Co Kildare. Sunday 27th: Abbeyleix 10k.
