Cinemobile hits Offaly this weekend
Cinemobile - Ireland's travelling cinema - will be holding its first ever digital screenings in Birr on Sunday, September 6, at 12 noon with 'Aliens in the Attic' the adventure family comedy about children on a family holiday who bump into alien invaders, but work hard at keeping their parents in the dark about the whole tricky business. Cinemobile has gone all high-tech and has installed a Barco 2k digital projector, which will be used for the Aliens screening. The other films will be going out on the more traditional format of the 35mm projector. The film of the year for children has to be G-Force and Cinemobile is screening this family fantasy at 12 noon on Saturday, September 5. It tells the story of a squad of specially trained guinea pigs dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world. All children will love this film… guaranteed! Cinemobile is delighted to be screening Ken Loach's newest release 'Looking for Eric' which stars Eric Cantona, as the imaginary mentor of a Manchester postman who suffers panic attacks and can't cope with his two mouthy stepsons in a movie about friendship, family, forgiveness, football and two Erics. 'My Sister's Keeper', starring Cameron Diaz, has been bringing in the crowds for Cinemobile during the summer and is being screened in Birr on Sunday at 5 pm. But be sure and bring your hankies! Directed by Nick Cassavetes and based on the novel by Jodi Picoult, the main themes surrounding My Sister's Keeper are those of family and bioethics. It tells the story of young girl who sues her parents for the right to make her own decisions about how her body is used when a kidney transplant is planned in order to save her older sister's life. Other Cinemobile screenings include Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince; the family animation Ice Age 3; and the hilarious comedy of the year The Hangover.
