Offaly Covid test centre moving to new Tullamore location
The HSE's centre for administering PCR tests for Covid-19 in Offaly is on the move to a new location and will be up and running there from tomorrow, Friday.
After previously being carried out in Clonminch, the testing is now moving to the HSE's Area Office at Arden Road, Tullamore (eircode: R35 TY28).
Announcing the change, the HSE said just under 150,000 PCR tests had been administered to the people of Offaly and surrounding areas to date.
The PCR testing at Arden Road will operate seven days a week, with the tests recommended for: People aged 55 and over who have not had a Covid-19 booster vaccine; those who are immunocompromised or have a high-risk medical condition, and those who care for or live with them.
The PCR tests are also recommended for healthcare workers and those who are pregnant.
For people not in the above categories, the HSE says antigen tests should be used instead.
Des O’Flynn, Chief Officer of the HSE's Midlands Louth Meath Community Healthcare, said it was important to acknowledge the work of all staff at the Covid Test Centre, Tullamore who have supported the delivery of PCR testing, the organisations and agencies involved in making this happen, and all those who presented for PCR testing.
