Offaly artists join forces for unique art exhibition

Two high-high profile Offaly artists have joined forces for a unique collaborative art exhibition this week at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Mullingar.

Vincent Devine from Clara, who is now based in his own gallery on Church Road in Tullamore, and Ferbane native, Ann Mitchell, are hosting an exhibition of their works in the Chocolate Brown coffee shop on Dominick Street in Mullingar with the intriguing title of “Did You See It?”

A special artist “meet and greet” session is due to take place with both artists this Thursday evening (August 10) at 8pm, during with members of the public will be given a rare opportunity to meet with the two exhibiting artists and find out more about their work.

The exhibition opened on Sunday last, June 6, and continues until Monday next, June 14.

Vincent Devine came to national and international prominence when he painted a stunning triptych portrait of cervical check campaigner, the late Vicky Phelan, which later went on to raise over €58,000 for frontline workers when it was auctioned online during the Covid crisis.

Ann Mitchell, who trades under the name AnnieMae Art, is the daughter of Niall (who was the former lock-keeper in Rahan) and the late Bridie Mitchell from Gallen in Ferbane and comes from a very creative family. Her sister, Caroline, is a million-selling author and another sister, Louise, works as a landscape artist.

Members of the public who have even a passing interest in art, as well as art aficionados, are strongly encouraged to come along, during Fleadh week, to the joint art exhibition in the Chocolate Browne coffee shop on Dominick Street in Mullingar being hosted by Vincent Devine and Ann Mitchell, or to attend the artist 'meet and greet' on Thursday night at 8pm.
